"My working group is characterised by experimental particle physics and medical physics.
In the field of particle physics, we use the LHCb experiment, one of the four large experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, to research physics beyond the Standard Model. With the help of the analysis of data from proton-proton collisions, we are particularly investigating the physics of so-called B mesons. Special emphasis is put on the search for rare decays with leptons, as well as the investigation of lepton universality, CP violation and flavour tagging. Deviations from theoretical predictions can indicate new physics here. To obtain the most precise results possible, we are also researching detector development and real-time analysis of data.
In the field of medical physics, methods for dosimetry, brachytherapy and teletherapy are researched and developed. Furthermore, techniques for diagnosis and image processing are being further developed."
